The Lodges

The five log cabins are sited on approximately one and a half acres and either look directly over the lake or over the grassy areas and stream which runs through the property.  The cabins are completely self-contained, with the larger ones having their own parking for two cars and the smaller cabins have the use of the small car park a few metres away.  Each cabin has a generous covered veranda with wooden tables and chairs, ideal for sitting outside in all seasons and for those who wish to smoke, a rather useful area to puff away in relative comfort and still be able to converse with those sitting inside.

The cabins have been tastefully furnished with the guests’ comfort in mind and are all a little different from each other. The interiors are cheerful and bright with a selection of stripes and checks at the windows to co-ordinate with the soft furnishings and which contribute to the experience of living in a log cabin. Although the living rooms are large, the lamps and pictures together with the check curtains make for a very cosy feel when the nights draw in and the lights are turned on and would be a wonderful place to spend a winter break.

The sofas and beds have been carefully chosen – bounced upon, lain upon, all variations tested to find a good comfort level suitable for the majority of people. From my own bitter experience a holiday has been ruined by an uncomfortable sofa and/or a hard bed with cheap duvets and linen. Bedding is white hotel quality cotton sheets, pillowcases and duvet covers, with either goose feather down or synthetic filled pillows and duvets (please let us know if you suffer from any allergies). Each guest is provided with a cotton bath and hand towel and there is a cotton bathmat and shower mat in each bathroom. A welcome 'cleaning pack' is provided which includes a new tea towel, washing up liquid, two dishwasher tablets, a washing up sponge and a bin liner.

The generous kitchens have all been hand built with individually painted Shaker style units, fully fitted with a large integral fridge/freezer, integral dishwasher and freestanding double cooker with ceramic hob plus a worktop microwave.  In addition to the usual kitchen equipment, I provide washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen cleaning equipment, filled salt mills, pepper grinders and cooking salt and the freezing compartments will have filled ice trays ready for a stiff drink upon arrival!  All the cabins have flatscreen TV’s with freesat, DVD/CD players and a plentiful supply of books and both adult and childrens’ board games. Each cabin is electrically heated and has a very efficient hot water tank. Well behaved dogs will be welcome at our discretion for all the cabins at a small extra charge and as all the verandas now have gates hung across the gap at the top of the steps, they provide an enclosed space outside for both pets and small children, accessible from the living room.
